LAST SEASON

Update 20:00pm Monday 16th February 2009

I'm afraid the snow is going & there are only patches left on the field. It has been a tremendous couple of weeks & we still have another 6 or 7 weeks with the potential for more snow. Given the cold winter, there must be a good chance of more snow to come. I'll update the website as soon as snow looks likely.

Update 21:00pm Saturday 14th February 2009

Its been a really good days boarding & skiing today. The snow was particularly good this morning then softened a bit mid-afternoon. It will probably freeze tonight, so there should be good spring snow tomorrow morning. The field is still almost fully covered, just the odd bare patch but nothing to get in the way.

We'll be running both tows tomorrow, Sunday from the earlier time of 10.00am. To get the best conditions, get up early, but there is still so much snow, it will certainly last all day.

Monday is a bit more unpredictable, so if you want to ski or board on Monday, check this website or the answer machine (01661 860689) on Monday morning for an update.

Update 19:00pm Friday 13th February 2009

Its been another great week of skiing & boarding but this weekend may be your last chance to get on the snow for a while. There is still lots of snow and a full cover across the field, although there are now some worn patches.

We'll be running both tows tomorrow from about 10.30am until 5.00pm. Although there may be some thaw tomorrow, the skiing & boarding should stay good all day. Its very likely that both tows will be running on Sunday for the same period - just check this site or the answer machine (01661 860689) on Sunday morning for an update.

Update 22:00pm Friday 6th February 2009

At last, with the weekend here, we have great snow & great boarding & skiing. We’ve had lots of snowy days this year when the conditions have been excellent but it seems as though tomorrow & Sunday will excel. Everyone says this is the best snow for years!!

The tows will run all weekend, probably starting about 10.30 and running to about 5.00pm – if you want to confirm start times, check the answer machine on 01661 860689. We're updating the message early each morning – usually by 7.30.

Couple of things to do to help:

Take a shovel – there’s a good amount of parking area cleared but it will be busy so you may need to dig a space

Park considerately – not in the entrance to the Hall drive or blocking other entrances. There is a lot of space in the car park opposite the road from the pub. There is also space part way up the hill on the Rookhope road. There is an entrance to the field directly opposite this car park.

If you haven’t joined yet this year, please bring a completed application form and the right money – ideally a cheque. You can get an application form from the website.

Update 22:00am Thursday 5th February 2009

Excellent snow conditions continue. Tows were running today from 10.30 to 5.00 and I expect they will again tomorrow and over the weekend. If you plan to go up to Allenheads – just check the answer machine 01661 860689 to confirm the times the tows will run. Enough parking space has been created for tomorrow but I’d recommend a spade on Saturday as there will probably be more cars.

Update 22:00am Wednesday 4th February 2009

Loads of snow & perfect conditions for boarding & skiing. Staying cold so conditions are going to be great right through the week & the weekend - see the link below for some of yesterday's photos. Expect tows to run tomorrow from about 11.00 (may be earlier) to 5.00. Check the answer machine tomorrow to confirm: 01661 860689

Update 20:00am Tuesday 3rd February 2009

About 30+cms of beautiful powder. The tows ran today in perfect conditions - see the link below for some great photos. We'll be running tows again tomorrow so get your boots on and get up to Allenheads!! I’d still recommend taking a shovel to dig a parking space. I'm not sure what time the tows will run - probably from about 11.00 to 5.00pm - but check the answer machine tomorrow to confirm: 01661 860689

Great photos of lots of snow:

Update 08:30am Tuesday 3rd February 2009

There’s snow & the tows ran yesterday afternoon & will run today from about 11.00am. I’d recommend taking a shovel to dig a parking space. For more up to date information, call the answer machine on: 01661 860689

Update 09:00am Monday 26th January 2009

A good days skiing yesterday. Bare patches on B tow but the run from A Tow (by the trees) is still good. The tow will run today from about 11.30am.

Update 11:00am Sunday 25th January 2009

There was 10cms of fresh snow overnight & this is lying on a firm base of existing snow. We'll be running both tows today - so come along & enjoy the sunshine & snow! Access to Allenheads is fine, but take a shovel as you may need to dig out a parking space.

Update 19:30pm Saturday 24th January 2009

Good skiing again today and there is still a reasonable covering of snow across most of the field - although you wouldn't expect it from the lack of snow on the drive up to Allenheads. More snow is forecast overnight with continuing freezing temperatures so we fully expect to run the tows tomorrow.

If you want to confirm the conditions & start time for the tows, check the answer machine tomorrow morning after about 9.30: 01661 860689

Update 20:30pm Friday 23rd January 2009

Great skiing this week although snow softened up yesterday & today. However about 5cms snow still lying on the field so, with frost forecast for tonight, should be good tomorrow. If you want to confirm start time for the tows, check the answer machine tomorrow morning: 01661 860689

The forecast is also looking very promising for the next few days - see our own forecast at:

Update 19:30pm Tuesday 20th January 2009

A good days skiing today on really nice snow. There's not a lot, about 5cms, but the field is fully covered with runs by both tows & across the field.

Conditions should be good again tomorrow & the tows will run from about 10.00am.

If you'd like to confirm the conditions, the answer machine will be updated around 10.30 - 11.00 tomorrow morning. Phone number is: 01661 860689.

Update 20:00pm Monday 19th January 2009

It was too warm & slow today to make skiing enjoyable so we didn't run the tows. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow so well worth checking the answer machine in the morning - 01661 860689.

Update 11:00am Sunday 18th January 2009

There's about 4cms cover on the field  and its very skiable. The weather is cold & sunny - so very good conditions. The tows will run today & I'll update this page tonight. The forecast is for more snow but it may be too windy tomorrow. It is looking promising for Tuesday & Wednesday.

Update 20:00 Tuesday 13th January 2009

The snow has gone for the time being but not a bad start to the season. I've lost count of the number of days the tows have run so far - it must be at least 12 which is excellent as we still have the bulk of the season to come.

Update 12:00, Saturday 10th January 2009

The snow is now thin & patchy but just skiable as its still freezing hard. The tows will run today if people turn up & want to ski or board.

Given the forecast for the weather to warm up, its unlikely they'll run after mid-afternoon.

Update 21:00, Tuesday 6th January 2009

There is still enough snow to ski, with some more fresh snow falling this evening. Tows will run tomorrow from about 11.00am.

Updated 21:00 Monday 5th January 2009

The tows ran today & the skiing was excellent. There isn't a lot of snow - 4-5 cms, but because the ground is so frozen and the weather so cold, its holding up very well. The tows will run again tomorrow from about 11.00am.

With more snow forecast for tomorrow & Wednesday there's every chance of skiing up to (and even into?) the weekend.

Updated 19:30 Friday 5th December 2008

The tows have run for the last 3 days and we expect to run them tomorrow. There is between 5 and 7 cms of pisted snow on the field. With a frost forecast overnight, the conditions will be better in the morning. To confirm the conditions, check the answer machine (01661 860689) after about 9.00 tomorrow morning.

Updated 19:00 Thursday 4th December 2008

The tows have run for the last 2 days and we expect to run them tomorrow. Please check the answer machine in the morning.
