LAST SEASON

Update 14:00 4th May 2008

Another season over. Not a bad one, with 8 days skiing over the winter. Conditions were never brilliant but there was enough snow to have both tows running on a number of occasions. The tows are now down - ironically, just in time for a final couple of days of snow!

A newsletter will be out in the next couple of weeks so watch the post, or if you have email, your email box.

Don't forget - once you've joined the club, we'll send you an e-mail and text you to let you know when the tows are running.

If you haven't joined yet - just phone our answer machine: 01661 860689

Last month's opening of the new cabin was a great success - Have a look at Today's Report for pictures from the afternoon.

SEASON BEFORE LAST

Update 9:30 Easter Monday - 24th March 2008

As there has been no more snow overnight and not enough remaining from yesterday for skiing, the tows will not be running today.

However there is still a thin and frozen cover so sledging will be fun!

If one of the forecasted snow showers is heavy enough, there is still a chance of more skiing this week - so keep checking the answer machine  - 01661 860689.

Update 9:30 Easter Sunday - 23rd March 2008

There has been a little more snow overnight and some skiing will be possible. "B" tow will run from about 10.30. Because of problems with the safety trip, its unlikely that "A" tow will run today. If you don't travel early, it would be worth checking the answer machine (01661 860689) which will be updated at about 11.00am.

Update 19:30 Saturday 22nd  March 2008

There was about 3 inches of snow on the field today & some skiing was possible. More snow is forecast overnight & if it does, the skiing should be good tomorrow. To be sure, check the answer machine (01661 860689) in the morning.

Update 19:30 Thursday 20th March 2008

Possibility of enough snow over the weekend to cover the field, so keep an eye on this site.

Update 9:30 Saturday 2nd February 2008

I'm afraid the wind has blown most of the snow off the field. There is limited cover with bare patches on the tops of ridges. Some skiing will be possible for a while, but not all the way down the field.

Update 23:00 Thursday 31st January 2008

The forecast seems to be promising snow for tonight & tomorrow - so phone the answer machine (01661 860689) tomorrow morning to check if there is enough to ski. It sounds even better for Saturday  -I'll email / text members tomorrow if Saturday is likely to have the snow.

Update 22:00, Monday 21st January 2008

Plenty of fresh snow today. The tows ran from 1:30 and will also be running tomorrow from 10:00 am. A hard frost is forecast overnight so tomorrow's skiing should be great.

The roads are clear and will remain so but take a shovel to dig a parking space.

Update 10:30, Saturday 5th January 2008

There was rain overnight and the snow conditions are rather poor but it is still skiable. "A" tow is running and will continue today as long as skiing is feasible.

More snow & colder conditions are forecast overnight, so tomorrow could be good - keep checking the website and the answer machine.

The tows ran yesterday - apologies for the breakdowns - and the skiing was excellent. "A" tows problem seems to have been sorted and it is running OK today. We'll look to sort out "B" tow and the difficulty of the build up of snow on the rope & pulleys. Hopefully we'll crack that very soon.

Update: 20:00, Thursday 3rd January 2008

At Last - we've got snow!!

There's about 15 cms snow and the tows were running today from mid afternoon until 4:30.

More snow is expected overnight, so the tows should be running from about 10:30 until dark. Just give the Answer Machine - 01661 860689 - a check in the morning

See you there!

Update: 19:00, Wednesday 2nd January 2008

There's snow forecast for tomorrow, so keep an eye on the site to see whether we'll be skiing.

- Or even better, join now & you'll receive a text to tell you when the tows are running.

Update: 10:00pm, Saturday 8th December 2007

The tows are up and we're ready for the snow!

Its snowing today so watch out - it may be possible to ski tomorrow.

2006/2007 SEASON

Friday 16th March 2007

And the winter seemed to be over! The forecast for Sunday & into next week is promising snow over the Pennines. As ever, if it does fall, expect the tows to be running. Keep checking this site & the answer machine

Sunday 11th February 2007

There's been a little overnight rain but there is still enough snow to ski, albeit a bit wet. The tows will run from about 10:30.

Saturday 10th February 2007

  Lots of Snow!!

Very good skiing today on about 10 - 12 cms of fresh snow. A bit windy but the snow continued all day & there is still a good covering. Rain is forecast overnight, but it may still be OK for skiing on Sunday. If it is, the tows will be running.

We'll update the answer machine in the morning, sometime between 8:00 and 9:00 am.

24th December 2006

The Sport England grant for a much larger hut - a "Chalet" - at the bottom of the tows has been confirmed. We've got planning permission but the area is too wet to build on so I'm afraid we'll have wait until Spring before it can be built.

With everyone's support, this will be the first of a number of improvements we would like to make.
